HRH Prince William joined June Sarpong OBE, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Emma Watson for a discussion on our shared responsibility to protect the natural world.

As Prince William noted, many of the organizations involved are competitors in their respective industries, yet conservation requires cooperation.

June 21 marks both the summer solstice and World Giraffe Day.

The date was chosen as a playful nod to the world’s tallest land mammal.

While giraffes remain one of Africa’s most recognizable animals, their decline has often gone unnoticed.

Today is not only about celebrating a remarkable species. It’s about ensuring they remain part of our planet’s future.

We have become so used to wildlife in decline that abundance now feels unbelievable.

A reminder that some of Earth’s greatest wonders still endure.

Long before cameras, zoos, documentaries, or social media, people were telling stories about wildlife.

We saw strength in lions, wisdom in elephants, resilience in rhinos, and freedom in great migrations.

Thousands of years later, those same animals remain woven into our cultures, our art, and our imagination.

Yet many now face an uncertain future.

Not because we failed to admire them.

But because admiration alone was never enough.

Keep wildlife wild.

Before it was a coat, it was a jaguar.

For decades, big cats were hunted for their skins, driven by demand for luxury fashion and exotic wildlife products. While international protections have helped reduce legal trade, jaguars continue to face threats from habitat loss, human conflict, and illegal wildlife trafficking.

This coat is now housed at the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s National Wildlife Property Repository, where confiscated wildlife products are preserved as evidence and educational tools.

Some things are worth more alive than worn.

A cheetah mother feeds her cubs after a successful hunt.

Today, only around 7,000 cheetahs remain in the wild. Built for speed, these incredible big cats are struggling to outrun habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and vanishing prey.

For cubs, survival is never guaranteed. Making every single birth precious to the future of the species.

Most people have never heard of pangolins.

Yet they are the most trafficked mammals on Earth.

Over the last decade, more than one million are estimated to have entered the illegal wildlife trade for their scales and meat. All eight species are now threatened with extinction.

Quiet, nocturnal, and rarely seen, pangolins have become one of the clearest examples of how exploitation can erase a species long before the world notices.

Protect wildlife. Question demand.

Only around 30 super-tuskers remain.

Some are estimated to be 50–60 years old, carrying tusks so massive they can weigh over 100 pounds each and nearly scrape the ground.

These elephants have survived decades of poaching, drought, habitat loss, and human pressure. Yet some are still being targeted.

Losing one means losing generations of genetics, history, and one of Africa’s last great icons.
